Pantone’s 2017 color of the year: Greenery

The color experts at the Pantone Color Institute have spoken: 2017 will be the year of green.

Greenery, also known as Pantone 15-0343, is the 2017 color of the year. This zesty yellow-green shade is as refreshing and as rejuvenating as the first days of spring where nature bursts backs into life. It is very illustrative of flourishing foliage. The color greatly signifies beginnings and represents a growing movement around protecting the environment.

In a press release announcing the news, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute Leatrice Eiseman said that, “Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate, revitalize and unite, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.”

So far, Greenery, which Pantone has dubbed as “nature’s neutral,” has been getting positive attention. Pop icons like Katy Perry and Kylie Jenner have dyed their hair green. Brands have also started to get in on the trend.  It has graced a number of fashion runways debuting in collections from Gucci to Prada.

It has also been spotted on makeup, jewelry and even luxury cars. It was used on the newly unveiled Mercedes-AMG GT R. This just proves that Greenery has that luxurious appeal.

You might have heard some people say Greenery is difficult to pull off. Fear not. When paired with the right accessories (and the right fashion attitude), clothes in the leafy shade will keep you chic and stylish. Notice how, despite its brightness, the color is easy on the eyes and taps into minimalism. This might just be the aesthetic solution to our overall unease – a chromotherapy of some sort.

Not ready to go all-out-green? Match it with other neutral colors such as navy, beige, grey, or black. You could also pair it with brights, nudes, pastels, deeper shades, and metallics. Pantone argues that a color cannot go against Greenery because it is a “versatile trans-seasonal shade that lends itself to many color combinations.” It is an omnipresent hue around the world after all.

If you want to stand out, carry a handbag or wear a coat with sequins and beads. The busy details will help increase your fashion score. Another Shola Designs fashion advice is to make your shoes the focal point of your outfit. Stay away from visual distractions and let your shoes do the talking. Give a little bit of sparkle to your look with our green Sandra wedge shoes.

We are sure you are going to love this harmonious hue which will become dominant in the next twelve months or so. Get ready to be overwhelmed (in a positive way) with plenty of Greenery-infused fashions soon.
